Discover three of northern Tanzania's most celebrated wildlife destinations in one expertly guided, fully inclusive short safari with Kilipark's 3 Days Tanzania Safari to Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. This carefully crafted three-day itinerary is designed for travelers who want a broader taste of Tanzania's legendary northern circuit without committing to a longer journey — delivering elephant herds, Big Five game viewing, and one of East Africa's most scenic bird-rich lakes across three remarkable days in the wild.
From the ancient baobab forests and river landscapes of Tarangire, to the wildlife-packed floor of the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, to the flamingo-lined shores of Lake Manyara set dramatically below the Great Rift Valley escarpment — this tour covers three entirely different ecosystems, three distinct wildlife experiences, and three unforgettable days in the heart of Tanzania's greatest safari country.
This tour pairs exceptionally well with a Kilimanjaro trekking package and is one of Kilipark's most popular short safari offerings for both first-time and returning Tanzania visitors.
Depart Moshi or Arusha early in the morning and drive southwest toward Tarangire National Park for a full day of game driving. Arrive at the park gate mid-morning and spend the day exploring the iconic Tarangire River corridor, ancient baobab forests, open grasslands, and seasonal swamps that define this extraordinary landscape.
Tarangire is Tanzania's elephant capital — large herds numbering in the hundreds are a regular feature of game drives along the river, alongside lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and more than 550 recorded bird species. A hot bush lunch is served in the park before continuing the afternoon game drive as the golden light of the Tanzanian afternoon settles over the baobab plains.
At the close of the day, depart Tarangire and drive to Karatu for overnight accommodation.

An early breakfast before dawn is followed by the drive up through the lush Ngorongoro highlands to the crater rim. Begin your descent into the Ngorongoro Crater — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the undisputed natural wonders of Africa — as the morning mist clears to reveal the extraordinary wildlife landscape spread across the crater floor below.
Spend a full morning and afternoon game driving within the crater's ancient volcanic walls, which permanently shelter approximately 25,000 large animals in one of the most concentrated and diverse wildlife ecosystems on the continent. Lion, Cape buffalo, elephant, hippo, hyena, wildebeest, and zebra are all regularly encountered, alongside the critically endangered black rhinoceros — one of Tanzania's rarest and most sought-after wildlife sightings. The shallow waters of Lake Magadi attract spectacular concentrations of flamingos, crowned cranes, and a rich variety of waterbirds.
A packed picnic lunch is enjoyed on the crater floor before continuing the afternoon game drive. Ascend the rim in the late afternoon and return to Karatu for overnight accommodation.

After breakfast, depart Karatu and descend from the highlands toward Lake Manyara National Park — a compact but remarkably diverse park stretching along the base of the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment, with the shallow alkaline waters of Lake Manyara shimmering along its western boundary.
Despite its relatively small size, Lake Manyara delivers an exceptional variety of wildlife and ecosystems within a single game drive — dense groundwater forest alive with troops of olive baboons and blue monkeys, open floodplains where large buffalo and elephant herds graze, and the shoreline of the lake itself, where thousands of lesser and greater flamingos gather in spectacular pink formations alongside pelicans, storks, and herons. Lake Manyara is particularly celebrated for its famous tree-climbing lions — a unique behavioral phenomenon observed here and in very few other locations in Africa, where prides regularly rest and survey their territory from the branches of acacia trees.
A hot lunch is served at a park picnic site before a final afternoon game drive through the park's varied habitats. Depart Lake Manyara in the mid-afternoon and drive back to Moshi or Arusha, arriving in the early evening.
